Sara Rodríguez Portela was born in Madrid in 1980. She graduated in Audiovisual Communication at the Universidad Complutense. She specialized in writing of fiction screenplays for TV and cinema. She has worked as audiovisual producer for the agency McCann-Erickon, and as an screenwriter and production director in short films and documentary series that have been picked out in international festivals. Her interest for narrating histories through the images took a new turn when she started working in the field of illustration and young adult’s literature thanks to the Master’s in Books and Children’s Book taught at the Universidad Autónoma in Barcelona. From 2010 she works as publisher for Ekaré Sur, a Chilean independent publishing house where she is the director of the digital catalogue and she also illustrates one of its most recent tales. Her first book as publisher “Al sur de la Alameda. Diario de una toma” written by Lola Larra and Vicente Reinamontes has been awareded with the prize White Raven 2015 and features as one of the best books for young adults according to the newspaper El País.
